NEWS

FOOTBALL’S BACK!!

Hi All,

We received this from WAIBoP this afternoon.

This is very exciting news and we hope, like us, you are all looking forward to finally starting our football season!

Football’s Back!

I am sure that everyone was glued to the PM’s message yesterday hoping to hear some good news about a meaningful return to the grass. We received the news that gathering sizes can increase to a maximum of 100 people, which allows for the return of Community Football.

In line with the previous information we have distributed to clubs, I can confirm that we will be starting the Junior season on June 6, 2020 (including Federation and Baywide Youth) and the Senior season on June 13/14, 2020.

At this time the Northern Region Football League (NRFL) are still working through start options.

More information will follow when NZ Football releases football’s Return to Play Guidelines.

I would like to thank Sport Bay of Plenty, Sport Waikato and all the council grounds staff across our federation’s region for the pro-active way they have approached the altered season for community sport.

There are a large number of draws required to be produced, across the full range of junior, youth and senior age groups. We will work to get them finalised as soon as possible.

The announcement of a return to play has also caused a welcome flow of player registrations to many clubs. Best of luck to everyone for a successful 2020 season.

Please note: Contact Tracing requirements, as per last week’s message, are still in place. There has been one small alteration: coaches are now no longer required to record who dropped off and picked up their players at each session.

COVID-19 Alert Level 2 Update

Hi All,

Further to our Alert Level 2 update on 13 May, the committee has met and now is in the process of implementing a plan that will ensure that the Club is meeting the criteria as outlined in the guidelines provided by our governing bodies for Alert Level 2.

The new framework that coaches, managers and players will need to follow at Alert Level 2, will be communicated to team coaches and/or managers over the next few days.  The committee feels it is vital that we meet personally with all team coaches to ensure that the Club’s expectations and new protocols are communicated effectively and acted upon with diligence.

The respective committee representatives will be in touch to arrange meeting times in the coming days to allow us to be up and training as soon as possible.

We would like to reiterate that if you are unwell, PLEASE STAY AT HOME.

Thanks

President

ALERT Level 2 Update

Hi Everyone,

We appreciate that this has been a difficult time for all, not knowing what was going to happen with our season and we thank you for your patience and understanding. We know all of you will be extremely excited to be able to kick a footy around finally!

Tonight WaiBoP have released their guidelines for all clubs to follow and strictly adhere to, prior to a return to training, in particular with regard to contact tracing and maximum numbers of people allowed. Please refer to the below bullet points which provide more detail around gatherings and training tips.

The committee will be meeting to discuss the club’s own protocols and guidelines and further information will be released once we have discussed the best and simplest way forward, to allow our members to return to training as soon as possible.

As per the communication from WaiBoP, there will be NO training on council grounds until the councils are satisfied that clubs can and are meeting the requirements set out by council. WaiBoP will be sharing with councils, all the information they send to the clubs to ensure the council is comfortable that clubs are aware of all necessary requirements.

At this stage we would like to ask that no teams train until Thursday 21 May at the earliest. This is to ensure we have effectively communicated the required guidelines and expectations to all coaches, players and parents prior to any activity.

To support contact tracing requirements, NZF have stipulated that all players must be registered with COMET prior to the commencement of any training. Please note that the club will release further information with regards to this in the coming days.

Bullet Points for Trainings

Gathering tips:

  • If you are scheduling trainings:
    • give appropriate timings for teams to arrive and leave without overlapping
    • ask parents to stay in cars
    • request and enforce no spectators
    • state where drop off and pick up areas are

Training Tips:

  • refrain from drills or activities that require direct physical contact e.g. high fives
  • have hygiene measures readily available – disinfectant, sanitizer
  • come to training fully prepared (no changing needed)
  • there is to be no spitting at any time during
  • equipment is to be disinfected before and after training

Again, we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding at this time and please stay tuned for further updates in the coming days.

Thanks
