The Junior Club at Claudelands Rovers has a very long and proud history as one of the larger clubs in the region. A lot of this comes down to the great club culture, the quality of our coaching staff and great player development.
Junior Football aims to provide all children aged 4-13 years with high quality Football experiences that increase passion for the game, fundamental movement and playing skills. All whilst having fun!
Through Junior Football, players will experience age appropriate games and coaching in a programme that is specifically tailored to meet their wants and needs.Providing standardised playing formats, clear outcomes and training recommendations for each stage of a player’s development, the importance of the Junior Football cannot be underestimated. It will ensure the experience provided at the grassroots leaves Kiwi kids enthused, technically competent and in love with sport.The programmes offered are:
First Kicks (4-6 Years)
Fun Football (8-9 Years)
Mini Football (10-13 Years)

“First Kicks Programme” for 4-7 year olds. Claudelands Rovers is the hub for local schools and nearby clubs covered under the Southeast cluster, this sees 20 local teams hosted at our grounds every Saturday morning during the season. This allows children to experience their first football games, learn basic skills and meet new friends. The game format is 3v3, with a practice and 3 short games built into the programme.

GALLOWAY PARK – FIRST KICKS CLUSTER
“Fun Football Programme” at Claudelands Rovers for 8-9 year olds includes 8th Grade, 9th Grade and U9 Girls.
The format for Fun Football is a transition from the game-based skill activities in First Kicks to short matches with more opportunity to put skills into practice in a team environment.
Fun Football builds on the models and philosophies introduced at First Kicks. The child’s football development is continued in a fun, safe and rewarding environment. The 5v5 format introduces a goal keeper and offers teams the chance to play multiple opposition to keep the children interested and motivated.

“Mini Football Programme” at Claudelands Rovers for 10-13 year olds includes 10th Grade, 11th Grade, U11 Girls, 12th Grade, 13th Grade and U13 Girls. There are not trials for these grades, to find out more contact Junior Co-ordinator, email juniors@rovers.org.nz or register below.

7v7 format, retreating line, offside rules, corners, goal kicks and throw ins. Games are now 2 x 25min halves.
